July 10: Teri Roiger & Sharp 5

Jazz critic Stanley Crouch called Teri Roiger “the real thing,” a remarkable vocalist whose phrasing, timbre, swing and soulfulness reveal the essence of everything she sings.

While she’s recorded tributes to legends like Billie Holiday and Abbey Lincoln, NEA Jazz Master drummer Jack DeJohnette observed Teri has “her own uniqueness.”
